Moving to NYC: Part 1

Whether you are a friend, family member, or a blog/social media follower of mine, by now you know I am moving to NYC (and almost officially there)! I can't even begin to explain how much love, support and guidance I have gotten so far through this entire process. But with a move to NYC, like many young people's dream, I have also received a novels worth of questions. I will be posting many NYC-related posts in the future to address as many of the frequent questions I have received to answer at once to all my friends and for anyone else interested in the process. Feel free to comment below with questions!

Step 1: You want to move to NYC. Then what? Read after the jump...

A Quick Pre-moving Beauty Haul!

In just 12 hours from now, I will be at the airport ready to begin my journey up to New York City. This time I mean one-way ticket style, so exciting/scary! I had some giftcards and wish lists that I've accumulated since Graduation and decided to do some last-minute shopping.

In terms of beauty products, I picked up two new Real Techniques brushes (blush and powder). I wanted these because I've just been so in love with the RT brushes I do have and am not sure where in New York City I'll be able to find them. The only places I know of that sell them are Ulta and Bed Bath & Beyond (select stores that carry cosmetics). Something that wasn't planned was yet another Essie shade! Typical me...impulse nail polish spender. I passed the Resort Collection and saw this coral gem called Sunday Funday (such a cute name)! I shockingly enough don't have anything similar and thought it would be perfect on my toes for summer.

Last but certainly not least, a blogger and executive cult-favorite, the Stila Convertible Color in Petunia. This color is perfect for me, not to say I wasn't tempted by a few other shades. I have NEVER owned a cream blush before- crazy, I know. Honestly, I have oily skin and never though it would really work for me. I decided if I'm going to try one, I might as well try the best. Doesn't hurt that it can be used on the lips too. Multi-purpose products will be great in my adjustment phase from school to job (aka lots of time crunches)! I spoke to the man at the Stila counter in Nordstrom about this product for a while. He said he recommends applying it with a sponge or synthetic brush. Why yes, your fingers is an option too, but bacteria is easily spread that way. It lasted on me for SO long while I did the rest of my shopping and packing later on at home. Impressive product and I can't wait to wear it more this summer!

Stay tuned for many NYC-related posts coming soon! xx

May Favorites: Makeup, Skincare, Hair, Nails & More!

Makeup: All the products I mentioned previously in 'My Everyday Makeup Routine!'

Skincare: I'm always looking for new skincare miracles for some reason. I enjoy buying skincare as much as makeup! I have heard great things about REN, which is sold at Sephora. I saw this affordable kit and knew it would come in handy with all my traveling this month and it most definitely did. I have not used much of the eye gel or glycolatic mask yet only because I'm trying to finish up similar products before opening these. However the serum and night cream has been an amazing go-to night routine! I swear it has reduced redness and evened out my hyperpigmentation and scars. The t-zone cleansing gel is very gentle and is great to use after removing your makeup. I've been using the facial polish in the shower for a gentle exfoliator and it's been great as well! I've been using these products daily for a month and still have plenty left. A little goes a long way with each product, a quality I find with many higher-end skincare products.
REN Six of the Best Kit
Hair care: I gave this conditioning treatment a shot because it was very affordable and I have enjoyed the Aussie leave-in conditioner in the past. It surpassed all expectations and is quite possibly the BEST conditioner I have honestly ever used. I plan to repurchase this over and over again. The Wet Brush I purchased with an Amazon order a couple months ago and never quite got around to doing a haul of (yet all of the products have popped up in previous posts). I hate brushing my hair out with a comb after the shower, it's simply too tangled. I absolutely love this Wet Brush and can tell how gentle the bristles are. It does not tug at my sensitive wet hair nearly as much as my ordinary paddle brush did.
Aussie 3-Minute Miracle Deep Conditioning Treatment

The Wet Brush - bought on Amazon
Nail Polish:
Essie Mod Square
Essie Fiji - Such a classic polish color
Favorite Songs:

Beautiful cover of Little Talks
The song Treasure on this album is my favorite of the moment

Clouds by Zach Sobiech - Such an incredible guy

What have been YOUR favorites this month?

xx, Ariana

Skincare Ingredient Breakdown & Products

The most important and often overlooked fact about skincare is this: Everyone's skin is different. Therefore, everyone's skin responds to products differently. What works wonders for one may cause more breakouts and irritation for another. If you struggle with acne, it is worth your time to try out each and find your go-to ingredient or brand from the list below.

My Top 5 Favorite Fashion Blogs

During the past few years, I have really enjoyed reading and following blogs, some more loyally than others. I continue to discover new fashion blogs and love discussing with friends who their favorites are. To me, a fashion blogger I am more drawn to is someone young, admirable, shares occasional beauty/hair/skincare/home decor tips, and wears both high-fashion designer labels and affordable brands. A mix is ideal because you have those key pieces you sought after and those you could actually pick up yourself. Here are my top 5: all such beautiful women with impeccable styles. Keep up the great work ladies! :)

My Everyday Makeup Routine

It's been a while since I've done an everyday makeup routine, so I figured it was time for an update! Typically, I switch up my look on a daily basis according to my mood and where I'm going. However, the past few weeks have been extremely busy and have involved a lot of traveling. Instead of having access to my entire makeup collection (since most of it is packed up from my move), I've been limiting myself to use only what I can fit in my makeup bag. This look would flatter absolutely anyone. Since it is natural, it is very versatile. I wore it on interviews, walking around with a broker in NYC to find an apartment and to dinner (see what I mean...versatile!).

it's Friday again and I'm wondering what happened to another week..here's a quick round up of makes and things that have kept me smiling in between lots of sorting and organising...

embracing the minecraft obsession for birthday boys

using neon thread for top stitching :)

making these for my new obsession....plants (but having no room to put them anywhere)

and whipping up some more Teawagon blankets...

the almost sorted shed...this is so tidy compared to how it was....the cupboard is for my keep fabric stash :)

this is my to be listed stash....keep an eye on FB for an update on when these are in the shop :)
