My First Ipsy Bag!

As I mentioned in my Birchbox post this month, I also subscribed to Ipsy. Two of my roommates have been subscribed to it for a few months and have raved about what they got. Unfortunately, this one isn't quite as exciting, but it's still new products that I've never tried before.

For those of you who don't know, Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription that was created by Michelle Phan, one of the most popular and successful YouTube beauty gurus. You receive deluxe samples and sometimes full-sized beauty products to try out. I believe it's 5 products each month, and you're only paying $10! You can also cancel at any time if you are unhappy with the glam bags or are trying to save money.

In the January Ipsy bag, I got...(keep reading to find out!)

My Everyday Makeup Routine

I've picked up some new products in the past few months that I have come to love and use on a daily basis. This has been my no-fail makeup routine that compliments well with my paler skin for the winter.  This may seem like a lot of steps to some people, but to anyone who knows me, that's just what I always wear. It's not that I am embarrassed in my natural skin, I just enjoy putting on makeup :)

To find out the product list and what I use them for, read after the jump!

A Classic Makeup Look

One of the most simple, classic and beautiful makeup looks is the red lip, winged black liner and wavy/curly hair. Think Marilyn Monroe-esque. I recreated this look, of which I was never able to master until now! I have hooded eye lids, making the "wing" be nearly impossible. I discovered a way to do the wing to suit my needs. I keep my eyes open when I initially create the wing.

To find out what products I used, read after the jump!

confessions of obsessions....#1

Ok so...when I said in the last post that I had a new obsession I might have told a little white lie...firstly because its not really new and secondly because I have more than one... here though is my most favouritest obsession of the moment...

I guess it's what you would call Modern Patchwork...I began collecting the fabrics for this a while ago and over the Christmas holiday I made a quilt...

the colours of this one were inspired by the amazingly talented Rachel

Then I got some more fabric...this time with one boy in mind...said boy was off school poorly last week so I got to work and made this one...a bit more basic and very quick to run up. He loved it :)

I feared I was getting a little bit addicted and the house could have been falling down around me but I would have carried on happily stitching row upon row of little squares :)

So I ordered a bit more fabric and made another one... this one is my favourite and is a bit bigger...

... I would love to make some more but have got a busy few weeks ahead so I will wait for a quiet time...the fabrics came from M is for Make who have a great range of modern prints and are frankly quite fab.

I'll be back promise to blog more is written above my computer in big letters :)
Thank you for still popping by despite my rubbishness at posting lately...I really do appreciate it and I'd love to hear if you have any new obsessions you have been busy with :)
Have a lovely week x x x x x

ps fear not I have not abandoned my lovely vintage florals...just fancied a bit of a change for winter, I am busy making new vintage patchy goodies as I speak x x x x

How To Prep Your Lips For Lipstick

I was never someone who wore lipstick until this past Fall when I fell in love with the look of berry lips. Lipstick always scared me if I'm honest. The bold, opaque color, the fear of it smearing on my face or getting on my teeth. Sounds silly now, but we've all been there.

While I still have a small lipstick collection, I have found ways that I like to make the most out of my lipstick, which you can read about after the jump!

All-Natural: A Golden Globes Trend

Whether you were able to watch the Golden Globes or not, I'm sure you've seen all the red carpet pictures. I personally love watching award shows, not just the red carpet, so I was sure to be home in front of my TV when 8pm rolled around. I also love watching my Twitter feed rapidly burst out in comments as people speak, win, react, and walk by on TV! See my tweet reactions during the show @arianavoyer

One of the major trends from this years red carpet was NATURAL
From makeup to the nude/beige colors of the gowns.

Kate Hudson with pale, natural makeup- This is one of my favorites too!

LUSH Cosmetics Haul

My roommates and I who all follow beauty bloggers have been hearing about LUSH for way too long. We decided to take a trip to the Florida Mall in Orlando since they have a stand alone LUSH store to pick up a few products we've been lusting over the past year. It's not a big store by any means, but still filled with all their yummy smelling, skin soothing products.

Birchbox January 2013

For Christmas this year, one of the gifts my sister gave to me was a Birchbox subscription to try it out for a few months! I was super excited since I've never had one of the beauty box subscriptions before, even though I probably should have sooner for my constant makeup shopping addiction. Since I was so excited about Birchbox and seeing what my roommates got from Ipsy, I subscribed to that one too, YAY! :)
